Why Etholete?

We believe in athletes being more than their achievements and fostering their whole well being.

Our mission is to strengthen each athlete’s mind, body and soul by providing them with tools, healthy habits, and a community that supports them through their highs and lows.

Our Core Values

Growth Mindset

We champion the development of confidence, self-compassion, empowerment, and leadership in every aspect of our work. We believe in pushing young athletes outside of their comfort zones to build resilience and confidence. Cultivating the ability to overcome obstacles and embracing new experiences is essential to fully thriving in and out of your sport.

Fostering Community

We create a safe and supportive environment where athletes can fully express themselves and seek guidance and support in all areas of life and sport. We believe that athletes can only reach their full potential in a supportive network. In a strong community, members value their relationships, enrich the lives of those around them, contribute to the well-being of others, and are invested in positively impacting the future.

Leading by Example

We boldly stand up for our beliefs, embodying true leadership for our young athletes. We recognize that better mental health is crucial for coaching and athletic strength. While society hasn’t always supported this, we are here to change the narrative. Embracing change is essential and beneficial for our athletes.

Holistic Coaching

We emphasize a comprehensive approach that considers the overall well-being of athletes–nurturing their mental, emotional, and physical health. Our role as coaches goes beyond athletic ability and achievements. We build an athlete’s strength by prioritizing their needs and creating an environment that prevents burnout, alleviates anxiety and pressure, helps prevent depression, and avoids overuse injuries.

Hi, I’m Bree Oostinga.

I’m a coach, mental health advocate, and firm believer in prioritizing the human before the athlete.  My mission is to equip as many kids as possible with the tools they need to support their WHOLE self.

With over a decade of coaching experience across various age groups, from high school to under-8s, I’ve dedicated the last three years to exploring mental health, youth mindset, and holistic health in sports.  Currently, I’m in my third year of leading a mental health and mindset program at Cardiff Sockers, working with both boys and girls.  It’s always a work in progress, but I’m committed to making a positive impact on the next generation.  I’ve also recently launched a youth empowerment camp that supports athletes both mentally and physically, on and off the field.

My passion stems from my own journey as an athlete.  I began playing club soccer in 6th grade—best recognized for my speed and athleticism.  Despite internal and external doubts about my abilities, I was offered a full scholarship to UC Riverside, which I declined due to undiagnosed depression.  I later attended Trinity Lutheran College, earning a BA in Psychology.  Although my collegiate experience wasn’t what I had envisioned, it was a pivotal time for personal growth.  Initially aspiring to be a children’s therapist, I realized I preferred working in an active, outdoor setting, leading me back to the field with the next generation.  While I love the sport of soccer and the coaching profession, my true passion lies in working with kids by using sports as my avenue.

Growing up, I faced anxiety, depression, the loss of my sister, and a home filled with secrets and addiction.  As the peacemaker and youngest sibling, I didn’t realize the weight of these challenges until much later.  This personal history fuels my dedication to providing support, guidance, and open conversations about mental health for young athletes.

Etholete, my long-evolving business and passion, is now a clear vision.  It’s a sports wellness community where athletes can freely express themselves in and out of sports.  We take a holistic approach to building confidence and wholeness, supporting athletes’ mental and physical well-being while helping them understand their identities beyond their achievements.
